Now that I sold my MacBook Pro I wanted to make my iMac my main machine. So I moved all the data from the laptop to the desktop and–boom–that’s it. Because I was using the other laptop a lot lately, I got adjusted to the speed of that built-in SSD and the iMac started to feel rather slow. Luckily, my iMac is the mid 2010 model, which was the first one that came with an extra slot for an extra HDD or SSD, IIRC.

If you don’t know iFixit.com you should immediately click the link and check out their website. They do not only offer repair guides for like every single Mac, other computers and other stuff in general, they do also sell hardware parts and tools. Even more importantly: They are usually the first ones to disassemble new products and determine a so called repairability score. They do even ship all their products all the way to Germany. And they care.

Easy Versions Syncing Using Dropbox

For our subversion repositories we’re using Sofa’s awesome app Versions. If you’re working with subversion on a Mac go get it here.

Only downside: No bookmark syncing between computers. Today it bugged me enough to come up with a solution. Okay, fair enough, this is kinda obvious, but maybe you’re at the same point:

ln -s ~/Dropbox/Versions/ ~/Library/Application Support/Versions

Just move your Versions directory (which contains your
Bookmarks.plist
) to your Dropbox (or any other cloud location) and create a symlink to it at the directory’s old location.
