Most noteworthy at first glance for me was that there’s no new hardware — which felt intentional. Tim Cook stepped up for what may well have been his last keynote, and I think they made a conscious decision not to let new iPhone or MacBook announcements compete with that moment. A farewell deserves the full stage.

I would assume that John Ternus will have his turn to present the next hardware generation soon enough.

The software story this year was the one I was quietly hoping for. Performance improvements, cleanups in Liquid Glass, things that just work better. macOS Golden Gate — and I mean this as a genuine compliment — feels like a Snow Leopard release. Remember Snow Leopard? No new headline features. Just Apple taking a breath, tightening the screws, and shipping something that ran better than what came before. That’s exciting. Also, Xcode 27 looks promising. Can’t wait to give it a try tomorrow.

More of this, please.
